New ship, pirate faction, patrol mode and more...

I'm back at work. There was no devblog last week, no social media posts and not many answers from me.

The reason is that I'm in the last two weeks of highschool and needed some time for school. But now I'm back at work and ready to create the next update.

I know there are some issues if you try to start the game and level bundles doesn't work on MacOS. Unfortunately I don't have a backup of the latest version, so you have to patient and wait for the next update. I will develop it as fast as I can.

New unit behaviour panel

There is a completely new unit behaviour panel with a better overview and more settings. In addition, you can now deselect units, which doesn't fit into the current settings or merge them to fit the settings of the majority of the selected units.

There is also a new patrol mode for the units with two settings:

Reverse:

Units will follow the waypoint from the first to the last and then from the last to the first.

Repeat:

Units will follow the waypoints to the last waypoint and will then move directly to the first waypoint.

New ship

There is a new ship, but I will create much more next week. There are now 3 different models in game and I also started to create the functionality of them.

Pirate faction

I started to create a some pirates for the upcoming ocean battles. Meybe there will be added some more of them, but this is what's in game so far:

  • Sabre
  • Slim Sabre
  • Dague
  • Blunderbuss
    • long range, shoots 3 projectiles at once
  • Flintlock pistol
    • low range, shoots 4 projectiles at once

Of course all the new weapons can be used by the player, too.

AI progress

The new AI is nearly finished. I adjusted all types to work with the new system, which will provide a really good performance boost.

Now I will just have to update the math calculations of some of them and finish the pathfinding.

Bug fixes

I fixed some critical updates for the next update:

  • The translation system caused the game to no start
  • Level bundles didn't work on MacOS
  • You were able to place as many kings as you wanted
  • Everytime I added new weapons, the weapons from old save files got corrupt
    • There is now a new save file format, but old files are still valid and will work
  • There was a rare bug that the player could use a shield and a ranged weapon
